Global Coalition on Youth Mental Health Our Story
The Coalition wishes to provide its members with a dynamic overview of our latest initiatives, share successes of the 2018 G7 Summit, and highlight opportunities for global action on youth mental health. We hope that Coalition members take the opportunity to download the presentation and use this, along with social cards and recruitment materials, when participating in global conferences and engaging in advocacy efforts.
Spring Webinar, Global Coalition on Youth Mental Health Webinar Series
On April 2nd, the Global Coalition on Youth Mental Health hosted its first webinar in an upcoming series, connecting youth mental health with the world. The Coalition was joined by Dr. Shehkar Saxena, Professor of the Practice of Global Mental Health at Harvard T H Chan School of Public Health, and Coalition Advisory Committee member, Kathryn Goetzke, founder of iFred, to discuss the future of global youth mental health.
Inaugural Youth Forum and Women's Forum Canada.
In anticipation of the inaugural Youth Forum and Women's Forum Canada, the Global Coalition on Youth Mental Health will engage directly speakers and event attendees to spark the discussion on mental health. We invite you to utilize our social media toolkit and participate via social media using the hashtags #myG7 and #ynow as we continue to amplify our outreach to the G7 and urge global leadership to prioritize youth mental health.
YMentalHealth? Our Future Depends on It.
On the eve of the 2018 Y7 Summit, the Global Coalition on Youth Mental Health convened youth mental health advocates, Y7 delegates, government representatives, and expert policy makers to advance the conversation around youth mental health. With 50+ attendees in the room and 1,300+ participants tuning in via Facebook Live, the event drew participation from Coalition members from around the globe.
G7 Social Listening and Youth Mental Health.
The Canadian G7 Presidency has opened social listening across social media for anyone to share what they think the G7 should address. Now is the time for action. Using their provided hashtag—#myG7—we can reach out directly on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram and let the G7 know why we think mental health is a global priority.
G7 Letter of Support.
The Group of 7 (G7) is an international body that discusses issues of global importance each year. We see the G7 as an opportunity to place youth mental health on the global agenda in 2018. We invited members of the Global Coalition on Youth Mental Health, and their networks, to sign on to a letter and help make mental health a priority for the G7.
Global Coalition on Youth Mental Health Launch Event.
On September 12, 2017, the Global Coalition on Youth Mental Health officially launched at the University of Toronto. Joined by the Coalition's Advisory Committee - Jack.org, University of Toronto, iFred, and batyr - the Coalition welcomed its first 24 members from around the world in our global mission for youth mental health.
